The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says roofs were damaged at Lake Elementary and High schools.

The Food and Drug Administration needs to be able to do more than just react to food safety problems after they occur. It’s News Across America at this hour And It’s Also Medical News Right Now.

That's the view of F-D-A chief Margaret Hamburg. She was on the network morning shows this morning, talking about the recall of more than a half billion eggs because of a salmonella outbreak. She said current law limits what the F-D-A can do to prevent these problems from occurring.

The protesters — mostly members of the left-wing Workers' Party — marched to the prison facility in the outskirts of Istanbul on Monday where hundreds of secularists are being held and tried. The party's leader, Dogu Perincek, is among them.  The demonstrators also are denouncing a planned September 12th; referendum on constitutional reforms which opponents say will increase government control over the judiciary.

And Now in News Around the State…U-turns are outlawed in Hattiesburg -- a little-known fact that was brought to light by City Councilman Dave Ware during a council meeting back in January.

Apparently, city leaders adopted the "No U-turn" ordinance many years ago.
It was reintroduced to the council by Ware because it had become apparent there were spots in Hattiesburg where U-turns should be permitted.
The Hattiesburg American reports the city's traffic division has identified 25 major intersections where U-turns could be safely executed.
